Went exploring over the weekend near an old civil war era road and found a house site in the woods. I was also surprised to find an old abandoned family cemetery on the edge of this hill. Only 4 or 5 headstones, mostly broken and on the ground. The dates on the stones indicated that this family lived on this site during the civil war and there was a lot of war activity in the area.
The farmer who owned the land just recently planted his corn. The original civil war road runs along the distant tree line.
The first bullet I found on the edge of the corn field was this musket ball. A VERY good sign of relics to come.
Unfortunately, I was not able to hunt in the field because the crop had been planted. But these relics tell me that next year this place will be worth coming back to when the corn is picked.
2 bullets
Brass saddle rosette
Leather rivet attachment ring
Thanks for coming along on my relic scouting trip!
