Relic blade find

Ok I have this blade. It's either Jim Bowie's knife or xenophons sword.

Blade is a foot. Sixteen inches total. It has old pin holes in the handle. Any educated guesses?

It reminds me of a couple of pistol grip D-guards listed in the book, Confederate Bowie Knives. They are listed as made at an unknown factory with no provenance. If you can guesstimate a military unit that lost it maybe you can help to start pinning it down.
