Hi Mr Barry,
just read your article on the New Pedersoli P'1853 Enfieldin CITIZENS & SOLDIERS DIGEST. I could possibly answer one point in your article. The Parker Hale's had an offset front swivel because for some reason they used SMLE front swivels which are offset. On the few Parker Hale Enfield I have owned the sling swivel still has the manufacturing marks, in one case the swivel was mark BA for Bathurst Annex, one of the feeder factories for Lithgow for WWII SMLE manufacture here in Australia.

dbrad,

Very true! I was told many years ago it was because they couldn't produce them for any near what they were able to buy the surplus off set ones. They considered it a minor concession to authenticity.

Hi Joe,
Parker Hale would or also had quite a stock off the surplus 303's that they had sporterised and rebarrelled post WWII.

I wonder what is going on with Cabela's. Most of their Civil War replica arms are "Sold Out," including the Pedersoli P-53 and P-58 Enfields! Most of these arms were sold out before Christmas-which means they lost a lot of sales.

So many of their replica Civil War arms are "sold" out I am wondering if they are even re-ordering them from Italy.
