I see a lot of Dragoon bullets that have been found, but the overall number of Colt Dragoon revolvers was fairly low amongst either side compared to other side arms. Were other arms firing the .44 Dragoon bullet other than a Dragoon?

There is a shorter version that is called the Dragoon style which is what you see mostly. The original was to big for the later models but had the same design.

The ones I have are the longer 260 grain ones. It's a bit surprising knowing how few actual Colt Dragoons were out there to see as many as I have.
