Decided to finally clean up these old rusty hunks of iron. I bought them both a few months ago, the 6 pound ball was dug at Bentonville (likely Confederate) and the 30 pound parrott shell was dug at Fort Fisher (I believe it was a fired dud based off some damage on the base and the rust pattern indicating the shell sat nose-first in the sand)
After thoroughly cleaning the parrott shell and its little cousin I applied Gempler's Rust Converter. The results were great. Gempler's really works wonders, I assume they bottle the stuff straight from the Fountain of Youth.
