Peter J. Osterhaus. At Vicksburg, Osterhaus commanding a division of the XIII Corps, the assaults on May 22, 1863 met heavy resistance (and eventually were repulsed). Osterhaus shouted to a rebel gun position that he´ll give them hell smell if they stayed there, then he began shelling it with a howitzer, destroying the gun.

John Watson Foster (1836-1917), thirty-second Secretary of State. His grandsons were John Foster Dulles (1888-1059), fifty-second secretary of State, and Allen Welsh Dulles (1893-1969), first civilian Director of Central Intelligence.
