Yes, I am definitely still around.

I regret that I wasn't able to talk my wife into joining the group for dinner in 2016. She was afraid we wouldn't be able to park close to the tavern (O'Rorke's ?) where the group dinner was held.

So we went to Friendly's for dinner and for whatever reason, Friendly's was having a very bad night. Our waiter quit and walked off his job right in the middle of our meal. I hear the group dinner was very enjoyable - sure wish we had gone there.

I understand some people went to Friendly's for breakfast the next day and apparently they had their act back together by then.

Ah, no, there weren't any serious ones! It was really just great and looking back, all the things that maybe did not go as straight as planned were fun and make me grin more than anything else! We really had a great time there and I enjoyed every moment!!

It was a terrific time and you made it seamless with great organization. Al and Bee have migrated most of their discussions to Twitter. That platform has a well-earned reputation for heated debate and acrimony. My dealings with both of them have been courteous and, in some cases, thought-provoking. I, for one, like to have my opinions and beliefs challenged and am open to changing my mind of presented with a persuasive argument backed by string evidence. None of us can get it all right, all the time, and "right" is a relative term. The friends I made at that event remain friends well outside the scope of CWT.

I agree wholeheartedly with Andrea and LGA; however, thinking back I was later reminded of another malign presence who attended, but fortunately for our enjoyment took a while to reveal his true nature - another of cash's fellow accomplices, then-Moderator and also now-banned jgoodguy. Since our rooms were both on the same side of the same floor of the 1863 Inn, I took an opportunity to ask him in his status as Moderator why it was that a cad and bully like cash was allowed to harass other members, receiving the same answer about other members thinking him a worthwhile asset to the forums. Little then did anyone realize the depth of their shenanigans!

Sorry it took me so long to find this photo - that is our @hoosier giving his great representation of his ancestor. We all loved it and it was fascinating to see how with every piece of clothing you became more and more a Civil War soldier!

It's interesting to look back through these old posts about what has by now become an annual event, the CWT Fall Muster. Since then we've been back to Gettysburg (2017), to Chickamauga (2018), Vicksburg (2019), Shiloh-Corinth (2020) - despite the "pandemic"! - and last year's Antietam-Harper's Ferry. This year Murfreesboro-Franklin is planned and I hope to be able to see more of our friends there!

Karen and I are still kicking, Started going on C W T trips in 2012 and enjoyed everyone of them that I attended. short trips 3 or 4 of Eric Whittenberg's tours were outstanding. Thinking we could make the Stones River meet if everything stays good.

If it hasn't been stated in this thread, Eric was the reason we returned to Gettysburg in 2017. He volunteered to lead a chartered bus trip following Lee's retreat route to the Potomac through Monterrey Pass above and the site of the battle at Falling Waters where James Pettigrew was mortally wounded. Members chipped in to cover the cost of the tour bus rental which the Quartermasters for the event so thoughtfully arranged. It was one of the truly outstanding events of our Musters, all of which from 2016 on I have happily been able to attend!

Eric did the trip again last summer and I made sure that I went. You are right. It was great.

If you were in a bus I hope this time he didn't send it down a narrow country lane where it almost got stuck trying to go under an impossibly small bridge! (The driver had to somehow - carefully! - back up, turn around, and make a longer detour.)

No he didn't do that this time. What was different from your tour is that he had us walk down a trail to Falling Waters as the sky opened up and we literally had "falling waters." Every one of us was soaked.
