What reenactments do you all plan on attending?
Do y'all think we can meet at any of these events?

I'm just wondering what other
reenactments members plan on attending.

I'm attending as of now

-Aiken
-Bentonville
-Appomattox

Other than the cluster of 150th events... which most are planning for well in advance... the majority of the rest of the offerings many are waiting till they have their annual meetings typically held in Jan-Feb or so.... to decide further on...

Of the notable 150th events thus far on the radar for us....
- Bentonville
- Sailors Creek
The Tale of the Three respective "Appomattox" events not yet determined... Appomattox NPS event has set participant caps that have generally been determined many months ago... the others... not sure if doing an "Appomattox" in Spotsylvania-Fredericksburg.... or at an Industrial Park will have the same fabric sentiment and meaning as at the original site at the NPS...... Just an opinion and observation...

Fort Fisher as 2nd NC Heavy Artillery in January
Bentonville as one of the NC Heavy Artillery Battalions in March
Saylor's Creek as one of Crutchfield's Richmond Artillery Battalion's serving as infantry - late March

For all of these events we'll be participating as part of the campaigner adjunct efforts.

See yall at Bentonville,
i'll be with the 17th NYVV

So Apoomattox isn't going to be at Apomattox NP

There is indeed an Appomattox event being held at the original Appomattox NPS site... however there are participant caps involved that most have already been met and set many months ago for most... hence unless one is already part of the invited few... it will be rather difficult to get into that event now....

There are two other billed "Appomattox" events... assumingly to capitalize on the predicted overflow numbers not able to get in on the NPS event.... and/or unable to meet the higher NPS set authenticity standards..... One is nearby also in Appomattox County hosted by the Appomattox Historical Society... its being held at a nearby Industrial Park.... The third one is being held in Spotsylvania County in Northern Virginia near Fredericksburg.... same site they did 150th Spotsylvania-Wilderness event last year... these being hosted by two different (competing) reenactment umbrella groups....

Are any doing a stacking
of arms reenactment?

Our unit has talked about doing a parole signing and weapons stacking living history weekend at someplace like Old Salem to commemorate the surrender of Johnston's army (yes, I know that none of Johnston's army was not in Salem at the time of the armistice but it's at least close to Greensboro, High Point, and Trinity all of which lack any kind of appropriate spot and there were no Confederate troops at Durham so that leaves out the Bennett Place) which is something that really hasn't been done much in years past.

That's pretty cool.
I'm sure my unit is going to something like that
if they do get around to doing that.

Why would a confederate unit lets say, drive from Michigan just to surrender down in Virginia? Whats the motivation? And asking what events we are attending, are you talking just the 150th Nationals, or the full year? So far our unit has been disappointed with the 150th cycle except for Gettysburg. They have been ho hum and yea the weather is/was beyond our control . I hope the Franklin event is great though.

It is the opinion of many during an anniversary cycle to participate in as many as may be feasible or within range... hence those that participated at 150th Manassas habitually desire to follow through to ending closure to include 150th Appomattox.... Granted some of the 150th events were the typical carnival shoot-em'up's.... that tend to be the same ole cheesy put-on-a-show powder burners... just swap the name and location... biggest isn't always better....However many others were unique with new different offerings and experiences.... Out of curiosity which 150th events did you attend?...
