Looking to gain some information on a 1861 Springfield. Having zero knowledge on these, I'd really appreciate info/ insight. It seems to be in pretty nice condition and the bore cleaned up quite well. Outside of cleaning the bore and wiping it down, it is as I received it. I've attached images. Thanks for any help.

The Eagle behind the VP is not the eagle style that Springfield seems to have used. Look up the Eagle study in Whisker, Hartzler, and Yantz. Your eagle matches several different makers, but not Springfield. I'd say it's either had a replaced lock or barrel at some point. Maybe during the period of use, maybe later. The WJLD initials should help determine the manufacturer. Either way nice musket.

Thanks to everyone for their help as I know little of 19th century arms. I disassembled it to check the inside of the lock and the underside of the barrel. Didn't find any signs of rust or damage. I did wipe some oil on the barrel and put a few drops of oil inside the lock mechanism. Mainspring is strong. I did see an 'N' stamped on couple of places on the backside of the lock body.

I've reached out to someone in Virginia who supposedly had some history of the rifle according to the fellow who gifted it to me. Unfortunately, I haven't heard back from him yet.

I would agree that this is a put together composite. If there are any discernible stock cartouches, that might help identify the various components.
