Got a chance to stop by Brice's Crossroads Battlefield today. Didn't have time to tour the entire Battlefield.

Really! It's a wonderful place... and I am so thankful (again) to have been given the chance to donate and save even a small portion through the Civil War Trust.
A return to this battlefield is on my "to do" list.

The last time I was up there was about 2008. There's been so many improvements and additions since then that I haven't seen.

Back in 2008, I was with an old college buddy trying to follow the original positions/outlying markers and such, but his pre teen kids were with us . . . all they wanted to do was get back to the swimming pool at the hotel.

We plan to do it again soon . . . since his children are now away at college. :smoke:

I go over 3 or 4 times a year to look after the Confederate graves. It's an interesting place and well worth the time and travel to visit.
I'm glad you're looking after those graves.

The last time I was up there, I had the pleasure to unexpectedly encounter the legendary Ed Bearss. He was conducting one of his famous tours.

That gentleman was just as animated "in person" as he is on film.

One day, I hope to take one his tours.

I've never been, but I remember reading in the old 1960's NPS folder for it that until relatively recently it only consisted of the single acre around the monument, plus the two cannon.
