William Redish Pywell (1843-1887), a Civil War photographer, worked first for Mathew Brady , ca. 1861-1862, and then Alexander Gardner, ca. 1863-1868. His sister, LauraPywell O'Sullivan, was married to photographer Timothy O'Sullivan. He was the official photographer on the 1873 Yellowstone Expedition with George Custer.
