Continuing on our presidential history tour in Ohio. We visited the final resting place of another President/Civil War veteran at the William McKinley National Memorial which is the final resting place of 25th President of the United States and his wife Ida. It's located in Canton, Ohio. The site also features the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum. Unfortunately since the lady had her heart set on the Pro Football Hall of Fame, also located in Canton, and we were pressed for time for the day, we did not have enough time to visit the museum :(

The steps are a training ground for many an athlete and also a site for outdoor concerts and fireworks on Independence Day. From above the monument, steps, parking lot and what was a long reflecting pool (now grass) are designed as a sword.
I was reading about the design on the one of the markers that mentioned it's unique layout.

There were also a few young gentlemen that were running up and down the drives and the stairs while we were there.

In addition, it is less than two miles from the NFL Football Hall of Fame and is connected by a park.
We went there too. As I said in the OP, the lady is a big NFL fan so we had to go there but because of their closing time, we didn't have enough time to visit the McKinley museum. May make a return trip someday as there are a few more presidential sites I still need to see in Ohio (McKinley's birthplace, Garfield's birthplace). Maybe on my next trip over to Gettysburg.

If you get back to Canton, you might also want to visit the First Ladies National Historic Site. It includes two properties in downtown Canton - the home of First Lady Ida Saxton-McKinley and the Visitor Center, within walking distance. Great displaiys.

Nice photos. Thanks for posting. As Ed Bearss said at Sharpsburg, "we have the only monument to a man who... served coffee."

That's a fine mausoleum. The only presidential grave that I have visit was US Grant in NYC. It was a lot further on the subway than I thought aswell, I just got in before the park rangers went for lunch.
I've checked off four presidential burial sites this week in Hayes, Garfield, McKinley & Harding.

Added to Washington, Monroe, Jackson, W.H. Harrison, Tyler, Polk, Taylor, Lincoln, B. Harrison, Taft & Kennedy...I'm making a dent in my presidential final resting places. Gerald Ford or Andrew Johnson will be next.

I'm looking Nashville in the fall for vacation so Polks resting place would be on the list. A very underrated President in American history.

The Hermitage is right there where Jackson lived and is buried. The only surviving house that Polk once resided in is also just south of Nashville (and Franklin which is a must see).

I have been to both the Pro Football Hall of Fame & the McKinley Memorial and they are very interesting. McKinley was a successful President and led a period of American expansion overseas. He was also the last President to serve in the Civil War. Tragically, his second term as President was cut short when he was assassinated in 1901.

@NFB22 , how are conditions in Ohio after than winter storm? Is the impact mostly just the flooding in the Ohio River Valley?
Didn't have any issues. I was coming from northern Indiana and cut across the northern half of the state Toledo > Fremont > Cleveland and from there down to the Canton > Columbus > Marion and then back to northern Indiana.

Living in Louisville, the river valley is the most impacted. Once I was north of Columbus, Indiana I saw hardly any standing water anywhere in Indiana or Ohio during our trip.

I'll be headed back to Louisville tomorrow where they're already in a panic, trying to get the city back in fighting shape before opening night at Churchill Downs in a few weekends time and then the Derby a week later.
