Picked this up at the Chattanooga Show on Saturday.
The history behind this guy is fascinating
M1861 dated 1863 .58 Caliber rifled.

From top to bottom:
M1842 1855 dated Harpers Ferry with the "Q" marking
M1822/28 1838 dated Pomeroy
M1861 dated 1863 Springfield cut down
M1861 1863 dated Bridesburg trapdoor with the IN markings for the Fenians
M1808 1809 dated Barlett Flintlock.
1833 dated New England Militia Musket
1700's Believe to be Ottoman, Flintlock Pistol
Model 1815 or 1822 Belgian .71 calliber
M1861 1863 dated William Mason .58 caliber

It is missing the metal end
Nice piece congrats. If you had stopped by I had a scabbard tip I would have given you for FREE but I will just PM you and get your address and send it to you FREE.

Wait till you see what I picked that was brought into the show. I'll give you a hint it belonged to one of Wilder's brigade soldiers its a Spencer rifle and was a battlefield pickup:D
 
I have what I think will be an interesting book coming from AMAZON ..... Civil War Arms Makers and Their Contracts: a facsimile reprint of the Report by the Commission on Ordnance and Ordnance Stores, 1862 Hardcover – February 1, 1998
 
Had a hard time seeing the cartouches but if turned in the light just so, and you hold your nose just right...
The front one is Samuel Leonard who inspected Mason Muskets from June 1863 to February 1864
The rear one is F.C. Spalding who inspected Mason muskets from June 1863 to December 1963.

Need more confederate representation. 🙂 The Harpers Ferry "Q" is very nice and great collection and display!
