Wilderness Battlefield Knapsack Contents?

Location
Maryland...'bout 55 miles south of Gettysburg.
These I excavated one day in 1970 in the Wilderness. Most of these were found right in the same hole,
and I figure it was from a knapsack, or perhaps a couple knapsacks.
The glass object in the upper middle of the photo is the broken bottom of a glass ink well.
Lower middle area is a part of a dinner knife, with a sliver of the wood handle still intact.
There is the remains of a mechanical pencil in the upper right portion of the photo.

Also many small knapsack (?) buckles, and iron, and porcelain buttons, etc.
