the water in the background is probably Doctors Creek. Was the widows place and/or Rousseou's position along the creek ?

Gunny is correct about Donelson's Run. The Widow Gibson Cabin was located near this stream which runs off Doctor's Creek.

The Squire Bottom's House and Widow Bottom's Cabin were located near Doctor's Creek. The Widow Gibson Cabin was located in the middle of the battlefield, just west of the Widow Bottom's Cabin (Based on Maps).

These are the known locations of the home-sites on the battlefield today. The Widow Gibson corn-crib location is supposedly known to be where it is indicated. The actual "cabin" site is still illusive, but they suggest it is where indicated nearly 150 yards from the crib. The two maps that I have located show the Hafley cabins on the east slope of Open Knob. This is a site that the Park argues did not exist, but is evident on the original surveys by Ruger and Kilp from 1862. Hafley worked for Squire H. P. Bottom from 1858 till after the battle, and Bottom owned the land that encompassed Open Knob and where the Confederate Cemetery is today.

I left off H. P. Bottom's house. Didn't realize that the map went that far down, but it is located slightly above and to the right of the 's' in "Doctors" near the bottom of the map. It would be the small black square beside the purple dashed road.
