I'm the first one here, this is an easy one. So I'll let someone else take a crack at it.

Although Col. Patrick O'Rourke's image in on the monument, the monument is for the regiment he commanded, the 140th NY. Also, the quote for the carving on the rock is slightly off. It says:

COL. STRONG VINCENT FELL HERE
CM'G 3D BRIG. 1ST DIV. 5TH CORP"S"
JULY 2ND 1863​

I put the "S" at the end of the second line in quotes because it is actually carved in backwards.

This is off topic, but does anybody know the purpose of the rocks that appear to be inset at regular intervals along the edges of the pavement?
