Place unknown? What we do know is that it is a end rail fence somewhere on the Gettysburg Battlefield!!!

Its a 5 rail fence. But Ruh Roh theres some around Culps Hill, Sherfy, Bliss and Slyder. Winter sun looks mid afternoon or so. Gives some kind of directional orientation.

I think that's it but where is there a fence line with shrubbery growing along it? I'm thinking somewhere on the first day"s field.

I'm going to say looking west towards the site of the Bliss farm from near Sunset Avenue and Long Lane.

So this is a bit of a guess, but I think the buildings just barely visible through the top hole of the fence post may be the Henry Spangler Farm. So based on that (which may be wrong) I think this fence extends west from Emmitsburg Road somewhere a bit south of the location of the Rodgers House. I'v got to admit that this is a tough one, especially since I have not had much chance to get onto the filed of late.

It's the view of the mountain that makes me think off the Chambersburg Pike. Based on the rest of the picture, West of McPhersons? Reynolds death location a few hundred yards to the South and a little East of the photographer's position?

If its where I think it is the key is that first tree with the wierd bend to the left and whats barely visible thru the top post hole. This is turning out to be a fun one.

It could also be looking north. I think it is the fence line running north/south on the west side of Stone-Meredith Avenue, looking towards the Chambersburg Road.
