The photos are taken from opposite directions, so the grading is reversed in one vs. the other. Looks like a match to me fwiw.

I was looking at the rock formation around the monument in the Photo in question... Just doesn't add up.. What do I know???? It does look like it could be around the Culp's hill area...
I will be in the Burg. this wknd will have to check things out..

My thoughts are the same about Culp's Hill-particularly the winding road going towards the tower, with some grade wash out near to the road.

In this picture you can see the stone base that the monument rests upon, and the way that the ground drops away behind.

The thing that pointed me away from Culps Hill is the topography and the placement of the monument relative to the road.

I can't think of anywhere there where there's a monument situated on a sloping bend across from a steep rocky incline, Despite the rugged nature of the area, most of the area's bordering park roads where there are monuments placed are relatively flat and open. Geary Avenue along the western border of Pardee Field is an exception, but there are no monuments that fit with this one along there.

Slocum Avenue towards the top of the hill also pulls away from the Union line and has no monuments along it past the one to the 150th, which also does not fit with the image.

Infantry monument was a pretty good candidate.

On the other hand, the upside of being from SE PA is that I've been able to take enough Sunday trips to the Battlefield to be fairly confident in my guesses on these threads!

I can't think of anywhere else at Gettysburg where the terrain, course of the road, monument base match up better.

I'm about 450 miles North and I don't get to PA. as often as I used to, but I enjoy the drive and I hope to make it to Gettysburg probably late October/ early November. Sox did well tonight.
