What Happened With This Site ?

It opens up, but that's all. It used to utilize the NPS Soldier & Sailor Site. One could find their ancestor, their unit, and "in their steps," follow the battles they were in with maps from 61 to 65. Now I can get no farther than the designated regiment numbers

"Walk in Their Footsteps" works for me as well as the links at the top of their homepage.

It is a Commonwealth of VA - sponsored site and based on this, they might be done and over with it:

The Virginia Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War Commission was created for the purpose of planning for and commemorating a significant milestone in our state and national history, the 150th anniversary of Virginia's participation in the American Civil War. The sesquicentennial commemoration in Virginia is a comprehensive statewide initiative that began in 2009 with programs examining the causes of the Civil War, and continues through 2015.

Sounds like the Commission (and the site) will be gone soon...

Hmmm. I tried it but after choosing Regiment number, it wont let me choose a state as it only lists "unknown" as the only choice. Using keyword helps somewhat, but then I must wade through every unit through to my choice, from A-Z. Hard for my patience to dig out 62nd Illinois like that.

I hope we don't loose more sites like this after the end of the Sesqui, but budget constraints may dictate otherwise. It is understandable though.

OK After working with the "Keyword" box I was able to do a little with it. Nothing like what it once was.

Thanks guys !!!
