Hey, I'm new to this site and new to metal detecting and this is my first post. I took my Garret AT pro out today and found these outside of Corinth, MS. They were located within a couple feet of each other. Can anyone tell me what I found? Thanks!

The top item looks like a Gardener cleaning round. I can't tell by your picture if it's 58 or 54 caliber.
The bottom item is a worm for attaching to the ramrod of your musket. it can be used for removing a round from the barrel, or a patch that fell off from cleaning or even wet and damp packed in black powder. Nice find. And since it was found at Corinth it probably was Confederate, since this was a depot for supplies along with a muster area, and camp.

If you are new to metal detecting, have access to ACW sites and have already found artifacts like that, you're gonna have some fun.

Yes,
You found on the left a musket worm. Used to clean out the bore of a musket with a wad of tow.
On the left is a finial tip.
Good id @Frederick14Va
Also good machine you are using. I use one myself.
Good luck with in your future finds

Yep, that's what they be!! Welcome and hello!!

Picture of what I believe you have found:
  • Tranter bullet mold that shows the shape of the bullet before casting
  • A fired tranter bullet
  • A prepackaged tranter bullet
  • A typical musket worm or wiper
Since you are in the vicinity, you should stop in and see Rafael and Lori at Shiloh Relics, great people who will help you in anyway they can, identifying, even pointing you to some pretty fertile hunting areas.

Hey, thanks for all the responses. I think it is the Tranter bullet since its made of lead and looks exactly like the pictures that Package4 posted. I've talked so some of my friends and they said its a fairly rare bullet. Also, I put the ramrod worm in an electrolysis unit and it cleaned up pretty nicely!

Here's another picture of everything I've found so far in this spot. It's been a really good one so far, I particularly like the buttons! The two big ones are in great condition. I also found another worm which I haven't cleaned up yet. Also found a lot of buck shot and a nice round ball. Does anyone know what the brass hook is from? Everything I've found so far has been about 6 inches deep. I'm looking forward to getting back out there and finding more, it's a ton of fun!
