Hi all... Can anyone tell me about this rifle my grandfather gave me?? Era, use, etc.

This is a target rifle meant for shooting matches and would have had a bullet starter for the muzzle as well as a bullet mold and many other accoutrements. Many of these rifles were sold in a large wooden case along with all the loading tools. They were a high grade of rifle and would have been relatively expensive.

Thank you Ralph. That makes perfect sense, as my grandfather was a highly decorated marksman in WWII, so seams reasonable that he would have collected similar weoponry from the past. Any idea when these rifles might have been manufactured?
