Websites and blogs

That being said, using a website that claims to be about the American Civil War as a platform to express your vitriol of a current politician (and their supporters) is very deceptive and an obvious display of poor judgement.

Reminds me of Kevin Levin's blog perpetually posting about the Virginia Flaggers, which are at least related to the Civil War. My opinion of the group is probably no more favorable than his, but I am not interested in keeping abreast of their latest foolishness.

My biggest problem with blogs is finding out when they have updates. At one point I used an aggregator site, but I kept forgetting to check it. The only way I keep up with CWBA's posts is because he's got a Facebook page I can follow. If it doesn't show up in my Facebook feed, by YouTube feed, or my inbox it has to be a website I check daily (like CWT) or I forget it exists for months at a time.

Some blogs are set up with notifications for new posts.

Still on the trail of a missing USCT officer, I encountered this blog: http://usctchronicle.blogspot.com/

This particular blog seems to deal with black soldiers but it references several other related blogs and websites--enough that I'm going to be up all night with many cups of coffee! 😊
So many rabbit holes, so few rabbits.

I would like to know what people favorite Civil War websites and blogs

I am looking for as many as I can find

Stephen Hosmer

While my site isn't specifically dedicated to the Civil War, I am currently doing a daily news post from the war period, and will probably keep doing CW era news articles once I've done a first full round through the war (if people are interested). In addition to news articles, I'm also (slowly...) building out info pages for brief bios, ship information, unit history, etc. And of course other historical news articles on many and varied things. Check it out at Reporting History.

All of my favorite blogs are inactive, sadly.

This gentleman I believe had been a local public historian who also used to do guided tours of area battlefields. No longer active, but he has some excellent posts concerning Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg.

Here is one about Union cavalry, while also containing a list of thirty-eight (38) other Civil War blogs, including ones about the 3rd Michigan, 48th Pennsylvania, 7th Rhode Island, Army of Tennessee, Antietam, and Brandy Station.

That blog about Union cavalry recently moved to wordpress, and reincarnated as a blog specifically for the histories and operations of the six US Regular Cavalry regiments: https://regularcavalryincivilwar.com/
