Hello everyone, I have recently found a pic of a ancestor who served in the confederate army. In the pic he has a variety of weapons. A musket , knife and revolver. Can some one help me i.d these weapons?

Since this is a charcoal sketch based on another image and the artist took license with everything complete identification will be impossible. However, he revolver strikes me as a Colt Model 1855 "Root" revolver while his musket is some sort of indistinguishable flintlock.

Cheers,
Garrett

I think not; this sort of thing was produced postwar but from a wartime image that was enlarged and "enhanced" to resemble a charcoal, unfortunately by an "artist" that was only interested in the sitter's face and cared little or nothing for the "props" that we are fascinated by.
