Heritage Auctions: "Winfield Scott: A Rare Silver Pocket Watch Depicting Him on Horseback. The entire design is engraved. "General Scott" appears at the bottom and a row of uniformed troops, rifles at the ready, forms a background for the general's rearing steed. The opposite side features a porcelain dial with a central image of an unidentified port city. This style of watch did not have a hinged cover over the dial, but remarkably the fragile high-domed crystal has survived intact. The watch is engraved inside with the name of the engraver, "Bautte Geneva". ...While the image of Scott is a military one, this watch could as easily date from either the Mexican War or his 1852 presidential candidacy..." SOLD for 1,673.00 in 2007.
