I am attempting to better understand the caps issued by Michigan early in the Civil War. Most of the caps came from F. Buhl & Company was located at 148 Jefferson Avenue, Detroit Michigan, S. A Fuller & Company, was located at 182 Jefferson Avenue, Detroit Michigan, J. T. Smith was located at 184 Jefferson Avenue, Detroit Michigan, and T. H. Armstrong (Thomas) & Company was located at 168 Jefferson Avenue, Detroit Michigan. However, Michigan purchased 1000 caps from Voorhees & Mill. I do not see a Voorhees & Mill company in Detroit or any where else in Michigan. Does anyone know of Voorhees & Mill and the caps they made?

Is it possible that the name is Voorhees and not Voorheers? There was a hatter ED Voorhees in Ionia, MI in 1873, so maybe prior as well.

Yes it is Voorhees, I should not type on a smart phone at 6 AM. I will have to look in to Ionia. Ionia Michigan was tied to Grand Rapids by the Grand River and a railroad. Basically small steamboats could only rarly go up river past Ionia.
