I have studied the American Civil War since elementary school & participated in reenactments with Church's Battery D, 1st MI Light Artillery for the last 25 years (Red Legs Rule). Recently my niece made an offhand remark about collecting stereographs, an area of passive interest to me for a long time. She said we should have a Stereograph Party one of these weekends, and I heartily agreed, but told her I had absolutely nothing to use to view or share. Which took me to Etsy & a beautiful vintage stereoscope. From there, I came across the extensive LOC collection, as well as the Reginald Oakie donations in the Library Trust Art & Library Collections. I considered purchasing some cards, which I most likely will, but also considered the possibility of making my own from downloaded material, which brought me to this site, and the detailed discussion of just such a venture. I'm certainly not a printing expert by any means, so will be winging it for a while, at least! Glad to be welcomed aboard.
