Note Years ago Civil War Times Illustrated had a article on the USS KEarsage..quoted from a diary was allegedly photograph of the CSS Alabama sinking...well look closely at the top row of the group pictures of the Kearsage...there does apper to be a picture of the CSS Alabama sinking...only it looks more like a watercolor sketch that was photographed instead!

Ironically there were at least 3 pictures from the Civil War that are Alleged to have been taken ubder fire...two are in Miller's Photographic History of The Civil War:
1} Picture of Vicksburg Miss "taken under Fire' (Caption}
2) Picture by Edward Cook of US Monitors firing on Ft Sumpter in 1864 {Cook Picture}
Recently a previously unknown picture was identified as taken of US monitors firing on Charlestown SC in 1864..but these were taken from the Union side at about the same time the CS picture was being taken! See Wikipedia rticle photographers and the US Civil War

Yes, if there's a claim made that a photo was taken of the Alabama going down, goodness, it would have surfaced as an original by now. Maybe it would have been amazing to see an iconic ships battle- but do we? Thinking footage of later wars would have cured us of all that.

So odd, found this on Ebay recently, for anyone who is a die hard Kearsage fan.

Yes, but there are two more post mortem photos of Lincoln on Ebay plus one of the Presidential Box, on Pinterest, taken right before Lincoln was shot- with Booth and all four original play goers! Someone brought their Galaxy smartphone that night, you see. Time travel is a new app.

Yes, you read it right here on CWT. We're very cutting edge.
