Unfortunately finding good information on the Regular Army units during the War is a bit of a challenge.

Fortunately some of the guys in my unit, 3rd US Regular Infantry, Co. K, are very knowledgeable about the Regular Army during the war. One is a professional historian and the author of three books on the Civil War. There may not be as much written about the Regulars as other units, but what of it there is, they know about. I just posted a thread for a virtual presentation they did on the actions of the 3rd US at Second Bull Run:
