I have just acquired this interesting tompion of a type I haven't come across before. It is lovely quality and would fit a bore of around .50 inch. It is marked REGd AUG 1st 1861 and unusually incorporates an oil reservoir with oil dipper or is it a percussion nipple pick. Having the REGd mark points to it being British but I wondered if any made their way to the US or has anyone ever seen one. Grateful for any comments.

Interesting. Looks like an Oil stick I had for my '96 Victory Vegas! Have you posted it on the British Militaria forum for comments? Hope you're well!

Thanks Craig, good idea I will look for a British forum. Interesting it was registered design just 4 months into the civil war. All well here, thanks for asking.

Mark, Ive posted here before particularly with Greene questions. Might be a good place to start:

Thanks for that site info

That's brilliant I'll do that, thanks Craig. Still looking for that Calisher and Terry, nothing coming up at the moment this side of the pond.
