Years ago I watched a CW film with two Confederates (I think) fishing by a stream, a Federal soldier joins them on the other bank. Then one of the soldiers catches a body on his fishing line. can't remember the rest of the story. Can anyone ID this film for me.

Can't help with that one, PenPusher. Just wanted to welcome you and assure you that someone will know.

Have no idea. It wasn't "The Colt" as that had nothing to do with fishing. First thought of that movie with John Wayne and Rock Hudson, but that had nothing to do with catching a body. No clues here.

I believe that it was on PBS many years ago, possibly the early 1970s. If I remember correctly, it was two Union soldiers and one Confederate.

My guess is it would have something to do with Ambrose Bierce. PBS has done the one on Jerome Searing, but that one doesn't sound like scene you are describing.

Only movie i recall that had a man brought in from fishing as you describe in a western had no army guys in it. The three were saddle tramps in the southwest. The movie i recall was named The Hired Hand, had Peter Fonda in it. Was a hippie western with non hollywood gunplay alot along the lines of Clint Eastwoods last western.
