I think this group is identified somewhere and now it will make me a little buggy trying to remember where. These are always great, thanks for posting. The biggest mystery with photos like these is how on earth women turned out pressed and perfect, bright white clothing included- from tents in an army camp. We see a ton like this and it's so baffling!

He reminds me of a preacher but that's just me.

Look through the trees at the top left and you can see a brick building or house. I don't think we can see enough of the building to know where this was taken.

It looks to me like he might be a civilian, and not a soldier. That just doesn't look quite like a military hat, Hardee or otherwise.

I thought I remembered the woman's dress on the right from Godey's, and this is probably what I was thinking: August 1862, on the right obviously. Close but no cigar. It was a generally common style, don't know when it began and ended.
