I found these photo's of my great great grandfather a few months back. We found his grave in an abandoned family plot in the middle of some woods near Sistersville, WV. I also found his oath of office for becoming a Deputy US Marshall using the National Archives.
Brief history from his own words: George Washington Sine was born at Mooresville, a small village in Monongalia County Virginia (Now West Virginia) July 4, 1846. Son of William and Elizabeth Sine. Lived in the same village until 10 years old. Moved with parents to Tyler County same state in 1856. Lived with parents until I enlisted U.S. Army Company C 7th Regiment West Virginia Volunteer Infantry February 21, 1864 at the age of 17 years. Went with regiment to the Army of the Potomac, then lying at Brandy Station, Virginia. Remained there in camp until May 3, 1864. Crossed the Rapidan River at Ely's Ford, Virginia May 3rd 1864 and went into the battle of the Wilderness. Was with the regiment in all battles it was in around Richmond, Virginia until we got in front of Petersburg, Virginia. June 17th 1864 was slightly wounded on Spotsylvania Court House Virginia. May 12th 1864 went to field hospital but returned to regiment next day. Was severely wounded in front of Petersburg, Virginia June 17th 1864 was carried to field hospital. Remained there a few days. Was taken from there in army wagon over corduroy roads to City Point Virginia. Was at City Point for several days. Was then taken in transportto Alexandria Virginia where I remained in hospital for eleven months. Ran away from hospital in April 1865 and joined my regiment at Mansions Hill Virginia. Was mustered out of the service with regiment at Mansions Hill July 1st 1865. Was sent to Wheeling West Virginia. There we were discharged.
