Looks like a militia uniform and I'll take a flyer and say South Carolina, if that cloth design is a palmetto tree. There also looks to be a strange saber bayonet or possibly a thick candle on the table. The rifle looks to be a M1841?

I think rifle is a Mississippi Rifle so called. 1841
