Lonnie Speer also wrote "Portals To Hell", a very good overview of the prisons on both sides, so he knows of what he speaks.

Yes yet to read that one. A review of it however was critical of his research and I thought this book might be suspect also and wanted feedback.

With all due respect to the reviewer, it's not at all partial to either side. Maybe that was their problem !

Perhaps so. He cites the OR often in this book so I tend to believe much of what is written. The extent of the atrocities is disturbing.
