I can read it then forward it, unless I fall in love with it 😆. Btw, how's your 1st semester, is it, of college going? Gettysburg, if I remember?
Different battlefield college -- William & Mary, in Williamsburg. It's quite good! I'm currently speaking with three separate professors who are trying to help me achieve my CW history degree goals...

Are you mainly interested in the line up, or orders of battle? I'm very much not. If you send your address, I'll tear it out & get it in the mail to you.

Are you sure? Appendix B has the Order of Battle. The Round Table's in-person book sale is next month. I could see if they're selling a copy. You know how us library types like to track down books for patrons.
You know me too well! That was the only part I was looking for, unless they just copied over the OR version...

Ah, no need to tear it out -- in fact, I'd appreciate if you didn't, since I don't like ripping out book pages. Since I'm not sure whether they just copied over the OR stuff, could you by any chance send a picture of the first page of the Confederate OOB?

Note: "Carolinas Campaign order of battle"s have nasty habits of taking the most widely-available OOB (the one from April 9, two weeks before the surrender, and saying that was the OOB of the campaign.

Of course. Will do when I get it, happy to.

Appendix B is "Organization of the Union Forces commanded by Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman." Sorry, @Stryker65 , no Confederates. Perhaps I used the wrong terminology? If I did, I'm sorry to have gotten you excited over nothing. :frown:

Ah, no, you didn't, it's fine. It's an ongoing problem with the campaign -- as I mentioned before, the only two Confederate orders of battle for the campaign that are widely known are the Bentonville one (March 19) and the post-reorganization one (April 9). There is no comprehensive OOB for the campaign that I know of, although I myself am trying to make one and I believe Luke Freet is too.

Will you please tell me more about the letters written the fellow who was in the second Kansas cavalry? When do they begin? When do they end? I'm interested in that regiment.

As far as I can tell, they begin pre-war and continue post-war. Most cited seem to be from 1961 through 1864. The letters aren't published in full. Excerpts are used to tell the story of this couple during the Civil War years. The book is from The History Press which used to be Arcadia Publishing. They specialize in local history.

If you are seriously interested in the full letters themselves, here is where they can be found (according to Ken Spurgeon in the preface):
Isely Family Papers at Wichita State University, Special Collections, Ablah Library
Isely Family Correspondence and Miscellaneous Documents, 1849 to 1943, part of the Kansas Collection, Spencer Research Library, University of Kansas. Some of the early letters at the University of Kansas were written in German. They were translated by Annemarie Ostrowski for a paper she wrote for an American Studies class under Professor Norman Yetman.
There are some Isely items in various collections of the Kansas State Historical Society.
Extracts of letters and diary entries from various private collections were taken from Uncommon Writings by Common Folk: The Isely Family Letters, Papers, and Diaries by David McGuire (1988).
Elise Isely's autobiography Sunbonnet Days (1935)

As much as I would love to sell you the book, I'm not sure that it's at the level you might be expecting and that you might be disappointed. I seem to recall seeing that you are a published author yourself.

To get an idea of what the book is like, Amazon lets you read a sample with this link. Unfortunately, it doesn't really get to the Civil War part of the book. :frown:
