As I'm currently wrapping up "Memoir of a Service Afloat" (around page 620 for those who are wondering), I have gone back to the store to get some new books to read for the upcoming fall. The first one is "Jefferson Davis and his Cabinet" by Rembert W. Patrick (it's a 1944 first edition too!) , its about 400 pages long and doesn't have any pictures. I originally wanted to get this one but I hid it to get once I was done with the book im currently reading. I haven't really studied the confederate government much and this will be a great insight to it. The second one is "Confederate Shipbuilding" by William N. Still Jr., the book is only a 100 pages long however it includes some great diagrams of ironclads and other warships as well as some of the guns on board. The book I wanted to get was "Memoir of a Service Afloat and Ashore during the Mexican War" by Raphael Semmes however I was unable to find it. If you know where I could purchase a hardback version, please message me.
