Kingston, Georgia

August 31st, 1863

Dr. Stout

Dear Sir,

I return to duty today by orders by General Bragg, Col. Palmer until three years the hospital. I fear his health has not sufficiently increased for duty in the field. His improvement has been measuarable? since he has been here. He has been teh subject? of diarrhea for more than two years. He has also some? formed intestinal disteared of the heart motivated? by -------- recently he has been much better. I need him very much in my office he has been my only clerk , since I have been here. I find none here that will answer the purpose and I would not like to make a stranger teh cause of the responsibility where no minds money has to pay through this office.

Will you please send? me some plan on foot by which he can be returned here. He is quite anxious to go to the Regiment and but for my fears for his health would laclingly? forgo any inconveniences

Respectfully
