No. At one time, shortly after the guns were restored, there were a couple of individuals at the State House that kept them highly polished. They were too agressive with their efforts. Fortunatly that was stopped, but not before damage was done. Several years ago when i rejoined the battery, the markings on the guns were noticably fainter than when i joined in 1989. They now get a very carefull cleaning and very light polishing only when needed.
