Has anyone come across any archived records on costs for tooling associated with the manufacture of edged weapons in Southern states? Tooling costs excluding the forge itself, furnace, shears and hand tools like files, grinding stones etc.
But including more specific tooling, like molds for the pommel and guard, or dies for forging blades, and in instances where unitary marking stamps were used, then these too.
Since unitary marking stamps were used on many things other than weapons, then they too should not be excluded, if from this period in time.
