During and around the time of Lee's Surrender at Appomattox, there was still a lot of fighting. In going over the land, many graves of both Confederate and Union were found and brought to the village of Appomattox for burial. Over the years, many families came to reclaim their fallen loved ones until only 19 were left, 18 Confederate and 1 Union. 10 of the Confederate and the Union soldier are listed as known. How and when they died, no one knows for certain.

In visiting the park, my little buddies had a hoot in taking over the village until they realized there was a cemetery there and wanted to pay their respects to the fallen.

Previously, my buddy, Combat Bear, visited a cemetery in Everett, Washington and found the grave of a Union soldier and wanted to hear his tale.
