This plate smells fishy

Here's another one some poor sucker is going to waste money on. This guy must be making a killing...
Went to look and went to look at the Confederate one too. What I don't understand with everyone looking at these is, doesn't anyone every question, with the Union Kepi, WHY is the corp badge still so bright red? I'm certainly NO expert but I have worked with very old wool and woolen mixtures at a living history museum. After 160 years, unless they have been kept in very incredible conditions, no red wool stays that color. It fades out. That Corp Badge is brand new and bright red! The leather straps are trying to look old but they really aren't. They don't look brittle enough.

Also, if you look underneath the hat, and this goes for the Confederate one too, there isn't nearly the amount of sweat marks I'd expect to see. Or, let me put it this way, organic marks left from being touched, handled, salt marks from sweat, that type of thing. The Grayish Confederate cap has a few pin holes in the wool but I wear Stegman wool clogs all the time and I have that with NEW ones!

There is nothing with these that says old and I notice the seller doesn't offer an line of provenance on any of them.

But he sure has a lot of bids on them already.

And these guys have 100% approval ratings!:banghead::banghead::banghead:

I was thinking the exact same thing! If these hats had been worn, you'd think the sweat stains would be very evident and they're not.

It's in regards to guys who lie about their military service. They'll inflate every detail so they're they sound like the most decorated, most impressive super special military service member ever. I love to see those guys get busted and called out. Look up Don Shipley on YouTube. He's a retired Navy SEAL and he busts these type of guys all the time.
See my post on the "Stolen Valor" thread.
