This is a CDV or men in the field, likely the Spring of 62 up to as late as Vicksburg. It is attributed to Cos F 3rd IA Volunteer Infantry.
Note the slouch hats, their uniforms and their arms. These were the quintessential Western Federals. In the spring of 63 these men marched 118 miles in three days. From Missouri to the Grand Review they were at the heart of the 15th Corps, Army of the Tennessee. Look closely you will see my impression.

Thanks, Johan.
