So it is a Southern tradition?Well apparently its a 1st Amendment right like at Valdosta State College. I am not familiar with Bermuda's laws though.
I have taught at a college for many years and have never seen a flag desecrated.I think its a college/academia tradition.
Or maybe they were really drunk.
All's fair in love in war!
He knows that.Youth and ignorance... regardless of the location or region.... usually found protesting/promoting some political statement... They know it will get media attention..... Its definitely not only found in Southern states as has been implied... It can be found everywhere... however when it occurs in southern states it tends to be more "news worthy" to some of the modern media slants...
On a side note... colleges located in the South are rare to only have a local/regional resident student body... Ive known plenty of students from Northern states attending colleges in southern states... At least at one time the out-of-state tuition rates at many southern based colleges were still less expensive than in-state tuition rates in many Northern states... so they go down south for collage... Just because an individual participating in such deplorable acts is attending a given Southern based college isnt confirmation that they are indeed "Southerners" doing it...
Barry...well, you've done it again. Thanks!
It is a gorgeous place. We used to stay at the Southhampton Princess, which has their own course. Just beautiful. Like you I'm not a very good golfer but did play a round each time and went through more golf balls than I will admit!Side note of Bermuda--with arguably the most beautiful golf courses in the world (I know I took a fair amount of photos there)...I am no golfer, and shanked my entire bag of golf balls on the 9thhole near the ocean; they bounced on people's house roofs and into the drink. I winced.

We've got some good friends who lived there for 5 years when he was an insurance exec. He says things are changing, it's not as friendly and open as it once was.

I haven't been back in 15 years but from what I understand the character of Bermuda has changed as they have moved more from a resort mecca to a business, mainly insurance center. Front St. used to have the old local department stores, Trimmingham's and Smith's, which gave it so much local character but are now gone. There has been a rise in racial tensions over the past decade, you used to see none of that.I noticed;![]()
Students from U of Florida and Emory spitting on United States veterans and desecrating an American flag? Sounds like the Civil War is not over in parts of the South. Or maybe they were really drunk.
