I just want to post an appreciation on johan_steele for all your wealth and information on firearms on this war period. Thank you sir! If there was anyone who wanted to know firearms on this war period I would without a doubt pick johan_steele! You should have your own museum on firearms and even write your own book too! Thank you for helping us all.

Thank you, I'm humbled. There are others as well we are lucky to have on this site.

The wealth of knowledge is astounding and the willingness to share never fails to amaze me. The likes of @Don Dixon , @Craig L Barry @Lanyard Puller and so many others contribute mightily to this site.
Typical class act on your part. And I wholeheartedly agree with the other gentlemen you mentioned.

I was gifted with a father who planted the interest in firearms and history in me at a very young age. Then the likes of Louis Lamour added to it.

From a very young age I loved the Sharps rifle and an IAB 1874 Sharps was my first black powder arm. That was almost 30 years ago. Today I own and shoot two Sharps. A Shiloh M1863 and a CSharps 1875. My father owns a cartridge conversion M1863 carbine and a Sharps Borchardt.

We won't speak of my love of the M1841 and M1861 and…

You do have a special fondness for the US 1841 percussion rifle, which many of us share along with you.
The single most beautiful martial long arm of the flint or percussion era. Others may disagree but I do love the brass, wood and steel of the M1841. Perfect proportions and an ageless beauty.
