swagger stick

Know nothing about the difference between swagger sticks and walking sticks. Except one is not used while walking. Someone said prestige. I'll buy that. If one were a self important ossifer, one might carry a swagger stick.

I associate it with the Brits and maybe a few other old country armies. Had no idea that CW generals, of either side, carried one.

Well ,my grandfather and the rest of my family are from Alabama, my grandfather passed away not to long ago,I never got to meet him, the stick was in his things he left for me,just trying to get imfo.on it, that's all

The one listed by Atlanta Cutlery states 1860, 18th NY Infantry ,18.5 inches, mine is almost the same exempt the 3 initials read in old English, can't really see what they are, was told in letter by grandfather it was from the army of the Confederate artillery, just trying to confirm his letter, under the paint it was varnished almost red,I'm retired gunner, 46 years old, just need some help with this ,that's all
