so I get spring break April 4th week I am not even sure where to go. But I want to go to somewhere close say 7 to 9 hrs away from South Carolina. So far we have debated a few places doing a civil war your in Virginia, Louisville Kentucky, and a few others but could really use some suggestions as we can't figure out where to go? We are looking for civil war homes, battlefields, cemeteries and a few fun places.

Fort Morgan Beach.

You have Fort Morgan obviously....Fort Gaines and other mobile sites like spanish fort/Fort Blakely where it sounds like Drew will be.

Pensacola forts and Naval air museum, Ship Island and even Biloxi/gulfport and Beauvoir all easily doable.

Plus fresh seafood, will be some college babes on beaches I imagine and Florabama bar for nightlife :D

Bout 9hr 45 min drive from Charleston, could move base to Gulf Shore or Pensacola to shorten drive...Gulf Shores or Perdido Key most convienent to the Florabama .but then probably lose ship island and Biloxi as easier day trips

Edit added- almost forgot Pensacola has a Buc-ees now.

I know there are some nice places to visit in Kentucky. Calling @Buckeye Bill he may have a few ideas.

Sorry....

I have been very busy at work.

The state of Kentucky is a gold mine for the American Civil War buff. Depending where you enter this state (N, S, E or W), an itinerary can be easily put together.

A good start is visiting President Abraham Lincoln and President Jefferson Davis birthplace complexes.
