Stewed onions are easy to make and good for digestion. It was said they agreed with delicate stomachs.

This recipe is from "Old Time Recipes To Enjoy", "The Kentucky Explorer".

Leave the onions whole, or slice them, as is wished; put plenty cold water over them, when half done, pour it off and pour over boiling water. When tender, pour off the water and dress with milk, thickened with flour, season to taste.

This is one of the dishes my Mother used to make us for supper. Apparently, Dad loved it. He also loved potato soup, oyster stew, salmon patties and fried spam. Somehow, I did not starve.

Donna. I love your recipe for stewed onions. I enjoy them very much with baked hamburgers in tomato sauce as a topping. Thanks again. David.

Very unusual. If field soldiers had a cow, they could use this recipe, I would think.
