Nice looking old war horse Starr. There were over 20,000 made in 2 different calibers, 54 and 52. The 52 used a metallic cartridge and from your serial # I would say its a 52. Is there a cartouche stamped in the wood right behind the saddle ring?

It is not listed in the SRS and below is the range so the unit of issues is lost to time.

Thanks for your reply.
There is no longer a cartouche stamp behind the saddle ring as it appears to have been carried in a saddle carbine holster for quite a while due to the wear on the whole carbine. You can see this in the attached photo.
It is a percussion Starr in .54 caliber and likes the Sharps style cartridge that I make.
