Springtime in Gettysburg

Hello folks, checking in again. Are the peach trees blooming or about to bloom?

I believe Pottsville was a mining area back during the war, and one of the first call recruits to come through Baltimore a day before the riot when the Massachusetts men went through. I read a book "The Diary of Captain Wren" that was pretty good. He was assigned to return in 1863 after his enlistment time expired, to either recruit, or guard the draft recruiters. There was a dangerous threat from the men in that area, assaulting the recruiters, and defying the draft. You should have good Library references for your local area.
Lubliner.
Pottsville was the Heart of the Anthracite Coal region in Schuylkill County. Nick Biddle a colored aid to to Captain Wren of the Washington Artillery Known as the First Defenders and the National Light Inf. formed from Pottsville. Both units arrived in Washington D.C. on April 18th 1861 and were two of the first units to enter the Capitol .... Biddle was believed to the first man to shed blood in the conflict. While marching through Baltimore they were assaulted by Southern Sympathizers when Biddle was struck in the head with a brick receiving a serious gash.

Also, Eastern PA is an AWI fanatic's dream. Valley Forge, Brandywine, Washington Crossing. Hop to New Jersey for Monmouth. While there, fill up your gas tank, because they pump it for you in NJ.
I now live right in the middle of all that, and it's awesome! The historic "Zook House"(and with it the Exton Mall) a literally across the street. Right along Chester County trail, and I see plenty of other historical sites and buildings nearby. It's quite nice for an American history buff like myself.

I haven't really seen much of anything blooming yet. When I go to Gettysburg this weekend, I'll take a peak at the peach trees and report back.
