You're a good photographer infomanpa. Speaking of beauty, there is so much unmatched monumentation at Gettysburg it's easy to gloss over it, especially those on a brief visit. There is literally no place like it in the world!
If time allows, take in the apple orchards in the foothills/mountains to the West; South Mountain, where they blossom late April into May. Maybe now depending what kind of season they had. Adams County (Gettysburg) is the center of PA's fruit belt. My sisters always drag m there when home but it is beautiful with spectacular views. But check your brakes. There are some steep hills up there, some a half mile.

Great shots, thank you.

Thanks. You are right about the beautiful orchards in Adams County. I was taking back roads to Cashtown and was surprised at what I saw.

Try Exit 234 off 15-Bypass to Biglerville, then Arendtsville, Cashtown, then through Ortanna (Carrols Tract Road) to Ortanna Road and Fairfield 3 miles away.
The fields enroute saw cavalry action and of course Fairfield as well right by the mountains. Many wounded Southern troops jostled along the Ortanna Road in wagons during the retreat.

That's pretty much exactly the roads that I travelled!

Beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing the "on location" report with those of us who are unable to visit often. It really is neat to see what it looks like during various seasons of the year, weather events, crowded, not crowded, etc. Thanks again!

I also tried to catch the fall leaves at their peak, but the most colorful trees did not line up well with any of the monuments.
